As we approach the one year anniversary of my tenure as Chair and CEO, it brings me great pleasure to extend warm greetings to you.  IMC USA stands at a crossroads, brimming with opportunities to shape the future of our profession and drive meaningful change.

As the landscape of management consulting continues to evolve, it’s imperative to stay abreast of the latest trends shaping the profession. From technological advancements to shifting client expectations, staying ahead of the curve enables management consultants to provide unparalleled value to our clients and maintain our position as trusted advisors.

Artificial intelligence, data analytics, and automation are revolutionizing how businesses operate. As Certified Management Consultants (CMCs), it’s crucial to not only understand these technologies but also leverage them to optimize our clients’ operations, drive innovation, and achieve sustainable growth.

We continue to see the adoption of remote work and digital solutions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations across the nation are grappling with complex challenges such as remote team management, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. CMCs are uniquely positioned to guide businesses through these transitions, offering strategic insights and practical solutions tailored to their specific needs.

Clients are increasingly seeking guidance on how to integrate sustainability into their operations while remaining profitable. Sustainability and social responsibility are no longer optional but essential components of business strategy. CMCs have an opportunity to provide expert guidance on sustainability initiatives, helping clients navigate regulatory frameworks, identify cost-saving opportunities, and enhance their brand reputation.

As we look ahead to the future of our profession, it is imperative that we remain steadfast in our pursuit of excellence, innovation, and ethical leadership. The landscape of management consulting is rapidly evolving. In such times of transformation, it is incumbent upon us to embrace agility, adaptability, and a forward-thinking mindset.

CMCs have a responsibility to continuously adapt to emerging trends and equip ourselves with the skills and knowledge needed to address our clients’ evolving needs. That is why I am excited to announce the launch of IMC USA’s partnership with New Orchard (  to help management consultants to define, implement, and maintain sustainable change initiatives across businesses nationwide. Help Your Clients Do The Right Thing

As management consultants, our job is to help our clients move projects forward, resolve issues, or gain clearer perspectives. However, what do we do when our clients are challenged in knowing what the right thing, the ethical thing, to do is? We can remind them where to look for it.
We can remind them to look to their company mission, vision, values, and guiding principles. If developed well, within that cultural framework there may well be the touchstone answer to their dilemma. As management consultants, we look to IMC USA’s enforceable Code of Ethics to guide us when we face professional dilemmas.
But why should we remind our clients where to look to help them do the right thing? Because it’s the right thing to do. It helps them stay focused on the key project(s) and issues at hand, and it keeps our projects (i.e., our obligations to them) on track. When our clients are deliberating ‘should we’ or ‘shouldn’t we’, if not resolved quickly, they run the risk of spiraling into an internal conflict that provides a toehold for further team division. One side’s opinions move further in one direction, while the other side’s opinions move further in another. Team (i.e., client and project) discord ensues. If we can help them to smoothly move their projects forward, resolve issues, and gain clearer perspectives without discord, why not help them do the right thing?

Become A Certified Management Consultant® (CMC®)

Management consultants who seek to better serve their clients, grow their business, improve their skills, and/or practice within a solid ethical framework are encouraged to go through the certification process.

The Institute of Management Consultants (IMC USA) offers management consultants in the United States the opportunity to become a Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) – an internationally recognized credential as the gold standard in business consulting certifications. The CMC® serves as a differentiator for consultants and provides their practice and their clients additional value within a framework of Business Insight & Aptitude, Practice Capabilities, Consultative Behavior, plus Ethics & Professional Conduct.

Show Your Level of Knowledge

Certification as a Management Consultant from IMC USA (CMC®) demonstrates to potential clients a high level of expertise and knowledge.

The certification also helps business consultants and consulting firm owners/principles run their business more efficiently and have stronger relationships with their clients. Certified Management Consultants® are supported by a Code of Conduct that ensures you keep market value and attractiveness into the future.

What it Takes to Be a CMC®

Achieving a management consultant certification is a worthwhile goal. To become certified, IMC USA has several requirements for eligibility and steps to ensure those who gain the CMC® certification have thoroughly presented their ability to work at a higher level among the current pool of consultants.

While this process can feel daunting, IMC provides education, tools and community to help raise the bar for each individual consultant and help the industry to elevate in ability, knowledge, and ethics. The bottom line is this: certification through IMC sets the standard and provides the support for consultants to move to the next level in their career. Get started today!
